About the NASDAQ 100 (ND)
The number of securities in the Nasdaq-100 index makes it an effective
vehicle for arbitrageurs and securities traders. At the Chicago
Board Options Exchange (CBOE) the Nasdaq-100 Index is used as
the basis for an index option known as NDX, and since 1993 has
become the 3rd most actively traded securities index option in
the U.S. after the S&P 100 and the S&P 500. On the Chicago
Mercantile Exchange (CME) investors can also purchase futures.
As with options, both institutional and retail customers are participants.
